Meet The Board of Directors

  • Jared Allen

    Jared Allen

    Club President

Jared discovered rugby in college at North Dakota State University, where he earned his degree in Industrial Engineering and later returned for his MBA. A versatile player, he began his career as a hooker and has capped at every position except prop.

Now living in Floodwood, MN, with his wife and their three sons, Jared is passionate about the inclusivity and sportsmanship that define the rugby community. While he’s excited to suit up for the senior men’s team, he’s even more driven to help grow the women’s program and youth rugby across the Twin Ports, especially with three future ruggers of his own.

  • Taylor Schnell

    Taylor Schnell

Vice President & Interim Director of Men’s Programming

Taylor has been a driving force in Duluth rugby for over two decades. He helped launch Northshore Rugby—the area’s first youth rugby program—in 2001, and went on to play for UMD from 2006–2011. As Assistant Coach from 2012–2016, he helped lead the team to national championships in both 15s and 7s. Since 2021, he has served as UMD’s Head Coach.

Motivated by the unmatched physicality and brotherhood of rugby, Taylor is passionate about growing the sport locally and knows the region has the talent and heart to compete at the highest levels once again.

  • Tyler Selleck

    Tyler Selleck

    Secretary

Tyler has been immersed in rugby since the age of 7, and now contributes to the sport as a player, coach, and referee. Off the pitch, he works as a Project Manager at Essentia Health. He enjoys exploring national and state parks with his wife and two children.

Passionate about the sport’s community, Tyler is especially excited to help build and grow youth rugby across the Twin Ports.

  • Paul Castillo

    Paul Castillo

    TREASURER

Paul has played rugby across the U.S. and beyond—with matches in places like Milwaukee, Providence, Buffalo, and even Dunedin, New Zealand. A career as a registered nurse has taken him to multiple states, and wherever he’s landed, he’s found a rugby club ready to welcome him in. Now based in the Twin Ports with his wife and their three children, Paul brings his passion for the game and years of experience to the pitch and the board. He loves the global reach and local closeness of the rugby community—and is always planning for the next season.

Paul is committed to helping Twin Ports Rugby grow and thrive. For him, it’s simple: “Come get some minutes with us—after your first match, you’ll be hooked.”

    Stephany Medina

    Director of Women’s Programming

Stephany found rugby at 19 and never looked back. As a founding player on The College of St. Scholastica’s first women’s team—and now its coach—she knows firsthand the power of a welcoming, supportive rugby community. She’s also played senior women’s rugby and is passionate about creating space for new and returning players alike.

Stephany believes rugby has a place for every body and every background. Her goal with Twin Ports Rugby is to help build a women’s side where players feel strong, valued, and connected. “No one goes in alone” isn’t just a motto—it’s the foundation of the culture she’s proud to help shape.
