NorthShore Rugby is currently recruiting players for our inaugural Middle School rugby program! We are looking for boys and girls of all shapes, sizes, and experience levels! 5th and 6th grade will be Coed and our 7th and 8th grade teams will be split into boys and girls. Check out the teams we want to field this year!

2026 Teams*:
5-6th Coed:
- Duluth/Superior
- Two Harbors/ Silver Bay

7-8th Boys:
- Duluth/Superior
- Two Harbors/ Silver Bay

7-8th Girls:
- Duluth/Superior
- Two Harbors/ Silver Bay

*availability subject to final registration numbers as of 2/15/2026. If registration minimums for a team are not met refunds will be sent out by the end of February.

Experience:
Players do not need to know anything about rugby to participate! The game will be learned, starting with the basics, over the course of the season, with opportunities to test what they have learned in various competitions.

Season:
The MNYR Jr. High season consists of a series of traveling 7s tournaments hosted by participating clubs throughout MN, eastern ND and western WI from March to May ending with the Minnesota Youth Rugby State Tournament in June.

NorthShore intends to host one of the tournaments in the Duluth/ Superior area, and possibly a local Duluth/Superior vs. Two Harbors/ Silver Bay match.

Practice Schedule*:
Practices are typically twice a week 90-120 minutes.

- Weather appropriate bottoms (shorts or sweatpants) and tops (t-shirt, long-sleeve or sweatshirt)

- Running shoes. Cleats may be brought to outdoor practices ONLY.

Registration fees will be $80. This will cover your registration to our club, MN Youth Rugby, and USA Rugby.

If you are registering more than 1 participant, please complete a registration for each separately to ensure proper record keeping on our end. They can all still be checked out at once from your cart. Sorry if this causes any inconvenience, we appreciate your help. A link to register to USAR Rugby Xplorer for free will be sent to participants in February. All players MUST be registerd to USAR Rugby Xplorer to participate.
